almosts....

So, I figured it was time to share that we have had three "almosts" in the past month. By "almost" I mean that our Social worker put our Homestudy in for three different children.

The first one was a 3 month old premature baby boy. We got the call on May 8th. This boy wasn't able to be in a childcare center because he was so young. We assured our Social worker that we would be able to stay home until the Fall. They put our Homestudy in, but they went with another family. We had to wait through Mother's Day weekend to find out, but we were still happy to know our Social Worker thought of us and that there was a baby that came up through the system with the goal of adoption.

The second one was an almost-two-year-old girl. She was born addicted, but was thriving in her home, and the birth parents were willing to sign over their rights. We never heard, and we just assumed they chose someone else. This was on May 26th. On the same day there was a infant girl, straight from the hospital, our homestudy was put in for her as well. We knew they were making their decision by 2pm, and when the evening came, we knew that child had gone to someone else.

While all of these "almosts" were hard, I still tried my hardest (and usually succeeded) at remembering just how much God is in control. Rather then focusing on the empty nursery, I tried to remember that we would get our child in God's timing. We are ready and waiting on God and his perfect timing.
